Blackhawks Convention Day 1!
Patrick Sharp hugs the Stanley Cup during player introductions at the opening of the Blackhawks fan convention on Friday night. (Abel Uribe, Chicago Tribune / July 30, 2010)
It was a busy Friday in Chicago for many Blackhawks fans who attended the Blackhawks Convention! Luckily, with social networking tools like twitter and Facebook as well as the Blackhawks and CSN streaming, I was able to enjoy the festivities from here in New York!
The HockeyBroad took some photos from the event as a summary blog post.

Busy Blackhawks weekend in Chicago!
The Blackhawks Convention is this weekend!
I know that some friends and fellow blog writers will be attending.
I hope you have a blast and enjoy the festivities!
The Hockeybroad posted info regarding coverage of the Convention on CSN. The broadcasting schedule will being at 5PM CT (6PM Eastern), plus live updates during the convention.
I will post pictures and updates from the blogs of my fellow bloggers and friends who will be attending on this blog such as links to their updates and of course, media from the Blackhawks website!
I am excited and I know you are too, the Convention is a great, candid way to share the team with the fans and I hope other NHL teams adopt a similar promotion!

Blackhawks Stanley Cup DVD - Special Edition Details
While searching Amazon, to purchase the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup DVD, I noticed there was an addition to the search results. One of them was this:
NHL Stanley Cup Champions 2010: Chicago Blackhawks (Same title as the other dvds) but with higher price.
Before clicking I assumed that this was a special edition because of the price level. When I viewed the sale page, I was correct!
Format: Box set, Color, DVD, Special Edition, NTSC
Language: English
Number of discs: 4
Rated: NR (Not Rated)
Studio: Warner Home Video
DVD Release Date: October 5, 2010
So I am buying this one instead and will wait the few months for it! I know that everyone has purchased the one that was just released but I like extra footage and content. Being that I am a college student with a budget, instead of owning both, I will just wait it out for this one.
Here are the sale pages for this dvd:

Pat Kane at the ESPYS!
Kaner and an amazing but slightly atrocious suit showed up at the 2010 ESPYs.
Pat didn't present but he was there represnting the Blackhawks, who were nominated for best team.
KEEP IT CLASSY KANER ...
A random paparazzi group got a video of Pat going into the W hotel in Hollywood.
That's right, a random guy in a bush filming Patrick Kane getting into a hotel.
He's hit it big time, he's an A-lister now, don't let it get to your head Kaner...even though it probably already did.
Patrick's time with the Stanley Cup is coming in August, everyone save their daughters, livers, and sleep for that time with the Cup!

I have a blog right?
I have to more diligent with this blog, I keep getting backtracked with other things like tumblr and twitter.
Where to start?
This NHL offseason has been crazy, it's my first one and it has been a rollercoaster. Many of the Blackhawks have been traded to the Atlanta Thrashers which is bittersweet but from what I have read it's a good move for both teams considering the salary cap. I wish MLB had a salary cap, it would make things very interesting in strategy amongst the two leagues and maybe the Yankees won't be able to buy their World Series Championship, but I digress, this is for hockey not baseball!
I am going to miss all the Hawks that have been traded but I will support them in Blackhawks and maybe even Thrashers colors (but not Leafs - sorry Versteeg!) when they play the Devils and the Rangers. I already plan on buying an Andrew Ladd Thrashers shirt when it's released. Out of all the players traded, I am going to miss Ladd the most. He was underrated and played extremely hard throughout the whole season especially the playoffs where he played injured! Andrew's heart and talent will be greatly appreciated in Atlanta so I'm relieved, plus he will be in good company with Eager, Sopel, and Byfuglien.
Other two exits are Versteeg to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Burish to the Dallas Stars.
I know we are all curious to see the team chemistry come next season, many fans are anxious about it and I admit I was at first, but I have faith in my team and in things working out.
